Wanted: A Real Family

Karen Rose Smith

A fire in her house left widow Sara Stevens with nothing except her car and most important her four year old child Amy as they got out of the blaze safely. A former patient of the physical therapist, globetrotting journalist Jase Cramer, learns of her plight. Through the Mommy Club volunteers based in Fawn Grove, California, he invites mother and daughter to stay in the guesthouse at Raintree Winery owned by his estranged reclusive father.

Both adults feel the strong attraction between them, but neither wants to take the first step. When they finally do, he insists they keep their relationship secret, which she accepts. As the two families heal emotionally, Jase and Sara fall in love even as he regrets his error when he demanded a serendipitous affair.

The first Mommy Club contemporary showcases why Karen Rose Smith consistently is one of the best writers of family dramas as the key cast seem genuine with semi-crippling hurts that each of the foursome begin to overcome due to love’s healing power. The key to this strong entry is that the lead protagonists must deal with their inner emotional problems before they can work on a loving relationship. Readers will appreciate this wonderful tale and look forward to more Mommy Club entries.
