A Texas Hero

Harlequin SuperRomance, Jul 1 2013, $5.75

ISBN: 9780373718610

Upset with her former husband’s latest shenanigan re their child, bank teller Abby Bauman is late for work and distracted while driving recklessly. When she misses her turn, she stops on a busy highway. Homicide detective Ethan James, who wants to get home to his daughter after a graveyard shift, rear ends her. They enter the nearby bank where she works to exchange insurance information when two robbers wearing masks enter. The robbers plan to take Abby hostage, but Ethan shocks her by volunteering. Thus they snatch both of them.

The pair are driven miles into a dried up rural area and left tied in a shack. They escape and begin a terrible survival trek for help as the extreme heat left much of Texas withered and on fire.

The first Willow Creek romance is a super suspense that uses the terrible heat wave that baked Texas two years ago as a fabulous backdrop to a taut whodunit. Although the villain is obvious early on, readers will enjoy this tale of two single parents falling in love while trying to survive an ordeal.
