In Manhattan, attorney Oliver Garfield informs his client Mace Carlisle that his avaricious wife Darlene moved twenty-seven million from Carlisle Pharmaceuticals into her personal account and has begun rumbles in Wall St. that her husband is insane. The lawyer says as soon as Mace kicks the greedy SOB (neither uses her name) out of his expensive Dakota apartment and cuts off finances to her and her nasty thirtyish son (or his) he will have their assets frozen. Oliver begins the divorce filing while Mace and his dog Lola vanish (in Alabama). In Rosemont, Alabama, Mace as Oliver rents a cottage from Julie Wyatt, but she learns the truth from the news when she sees his wife and stepson accuse him of bribing the FDA.

Months later, Mace is back in New York where he changed his will before dying in a freak accident. Sisterhood members Annie de Silva and Myra Rutledge come to Rosemont to help Julie, who grieves the death of her son Larry and the loss of her still living granddaughter. She believes her avaricious daughter-in-law Darlene is behind Larry’s death and making life miserable for her stepdaughter Olivia. The Vigilantes plan to retrieve the child and punish the evil stepmother starting with Abner Tookus using the Net to eradicate the existence of Darlene and her boyfriend Adam Fortune.

Although the Sisterhood gets started somewhat late as most of the first quarter of the storyline hones in on Mace, readers will enjoy the unexpected return of the Vigilantes as Mark Twain said: “the report of my (the Sisterhood) death was an exaggeration”. Even though avarice is overused, Gotcha! is a lively entry as the Vigilantes bring street justice to amoral snots.
