Six months ago, werewolf alpha Robson Trowbridge disappeared when his mate Hedi Peacock pushed him through the Gates of Merenwyn into the forbidden for his kind realm of the Fae (see The Trouble With Fate). Though a hybrid with fae DNA mixed with were, Hedi is temporarily the clan alpha; a role she detests especially since her inner essences conflict as the Fae blood chooses flight and the Were blood prefers fight. Besides needing Robson, she misses her BFF Merry who helped her rudimentarily understand her Mystwalker nature.

Staying alive amidst Moon River howlers may be priority one, but Hedi knows the Creemore wolves stalk her and the North American Council of Weres rages over a half breed Fae abomination running a clan. As she struggles to stay alive and in charge, she prays Robson returns so she can return to being the Alpha’s mate not the Alpha.

The second Mystwalker urban fantasy is an exciting thriller as Leigh Evans throws everything including it seems the kitchen sink at the beleaguered heroine. However, the myriad of major plots (several more than above) can become confusing with so much targeting Hedi. Still the mythos is top rate and the key cast solid enabling fans to believe Faes and Werewolves exist in the Evans universe.
