In Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Haley Foster is bored as she is in between seasons re the two family owned and run businesses; a time when she knows she should relax. As her friend teacher Suzette Solomon persuades the distracted Haley to go out on a blind date, she stares at the hairy humongous Mountain Man.

Haley believes she and hermetic Gavin Daugherty belong together, but he wants nothing to do with her or anyone else except when it comes to his business; a lesson he learned as a child caught in a system that never considered his best interests. However, though he is withdrawn, the recluse never met anyone as feisty as Haley who follows her heart and rejects his rejections.

The latest Colorado Fosters romance (see Cole’s Christmas Wish) is a delightful contemporary due to the dysfunctional relationship between an obstinate heroine and a troubled soul. Gavin brings the angst to the storyline as he is attracted to the beautiful tenacious bulldog but wants no entanglements as love hurts; a lesson he learned as a child. Haley never quits on him and with her comes the Foster horde (see The Foster Brothers miniseries) who makes life even more miserable for the hermit. Readers will enjoy this warm Rocky Mountain tale.
