Heir to Murder - Elle James

Heir to Murder

A couple of days ago, thirty-seven year old Noah Scott knew who he was as he worked at the Adair Ranch near San Diego.  Then his world imploded when he found out that he is Jackson Adair, the long missing son (and heir) of murdered (four months ago in his office) billionaire Reginald Adair.  He struggles with who he is; accepting that his aunt whom he thought was his mom abducted him from his biological parents who he believed were his uncle and aunt; and that he has half-siblings (Landry, Carson and Whit).  In other words he remains a Scott, not an Adair.

Noah distrusts everyone especially his acceptance as a brother by those he grew up thinking were cousins but in fact are his half brothers and sister.  The only person Noah feels comfortable with is Landry’s BFF Rachel Blackstone.  When someone targets Rachel, Noah vows to keep the woman he loves safe, but also concludes another loved one betrayed himl when he realizes the horse riding lessons he gave her were a scam for her to go undercover and spy on him for his siblings.

The fourth Adair Affairs romantic suspense (see Secret Agent Boyfriend by Addison Fox, The Marine’s Temptation by Jennifer Morey and Carrying His Secret by Marie Ferrarella) is an electrifying climax.  The lead couple is a nice pairing but it is the suspenseful revelations re family secrets and the homicide that hook the audience.
