Everyone in Hope Springs, South Dakota knows Casie Carmichael is a kind caring person who reaches out for those in need like Jack the old horse being sold at auction to a man making a living off dead steeds. She recently inherited the Lazy Windmill ranch, but plans to sell the run-down spread as soon as she can; however by purchasing Jack Casie delays her long-planned exit.

Confusing her further is the return of Richard Dickenson who left her years ago but begins to turn up everywhere she is starting with scaring her when he hunkered in her truck. Finally, her plan to leave South Dakota is further derailed by three young strays (Emily, Sophie and Ty) in dire need while her fiancĂ© Bradley is in the middle of her new dysfunctional “family.”

The first Hope Springs contemporary ranch drama is an engaging tale starring a fully developed cast as readers know the good, the bad and the ugly on the prime sextet. Character driven, fans will enjoy staying in South Dakota as revelations arise that shake the core of the heroine. Although there is too much tsuris at times, Hope Springs eternally in Lois Greiman’s fine tale.
