Head nurse Lindsay Harper loves being the
favorite aunt of her five tweener and younger nieces and nephews; as she gets
to do only fun things with them while breaking the rules. However, that changes when tragedy leaves her
brother Nathan and his wife of ten years Rachel dead. Lindsay must adapt to being a parent after
years as the best buddy.
MMA warrior Noah Parks loves Lindsay, but though
she reciprocates she rejects him for being a dolt; as only an idiot would take
beatings for a living. He never told his
beloved that he also uses his fighting skills to help at risk teens gain needed
internal discipline and guidance though Noah knows that will help him win her
heart; as he wants Lindsay to love the entire him and not just the community
volunteer. As Lindsay struggles with converting
into a responsible parent, Noah is there to help her and her charges; but that
and love may not be enough for this couple.
With a nod to the Gary Marshall directed film Raising Helen, Fighting for Keeps is a fine family drama in which
the lead adults recognize the needs of the children come before their
desires. The metamorphous of fun loving
Aunt Lindsay to responsible parent is superbly developed because the desperate heroine
adapts her ER skills to raise her grieving wards in spite of their demanding
the return of the rabble-rouser back. The
latest Brookhollow Story (see Mistletoe Melody and
Falling For Leah) is a wonderful tale.
