In Clare Valley, Australia eighty-four year old family matriarch Lola Quinlan decides she wants to do something different and special for Christmas. Having success four years ago in ending the estrangement of her daughters, the Alphabet sisters; Lola conceals her plan from her extended family while encouraging three generations of descendants to spend the upcoming holidays with what they want to do and not worry about her.

Lola advertises for seven strangers to spend Christmas at the motel where she resides owned by Jim and Geraldine. As her family leave, people in need respond to her ad. Lola wonders how her little holiday fable will end for the magnificent seven; clueless to the impact on her.

Lola’s Secret is an entertaining Australian holiday drama starring a feisty senior citizen and a strong support cast although the background of Christmas in summer never comes across. The cast is solid while the storyline is in two parts: the family scrambling and the strangers going through the Tuckman Group stages. Fans will enjoy this engaging tale as Damn Yankees says: “whatever Lola wants Lola gets” proves you are never too old to learn.
